Match Committee Guidelines 2011-12

The Match Committee ratified the following guidelines for Season 2011-12

Key Objectives of Eastern Raiders Softball Club are to:
• Promote softball as a sport
• Provide playing and development opportunities for members
• Ensure harmony on and off the field
• Help to build character
• Engender a competitive spirit
• Have fun

Applicable to all Junior Grades
1. Except in exceptional circumstances junior players will spend no more than a half game on the bench in any normal round fixture. This does not apply to finals games.
2. All players will receive an even amount of game time across the season. It is the responsibility of each Team Coach to ensure that appropriate game time records are kept.
3. Junior players are required to play a minimum of 50% of the scheduled season in their registered junior grade to qualify for finals (WSA requirement).
4. Junior players are to play a maximum of 2 club games in any one day. Pitchers and catchers playing more than one game per day are to be monitored as to the amount of time spent in these positions. This is to be managed by coaches and managers involved.

The club takes the health and well being of our junior players seriously. Therefore we want to protect our junior players from over use, fatigue related injuries and general disenchantment.

Applicable to Senior Grades
5. Junior players will not play seniors unless they are participating in their relevant junior grade competition.
6. Where junior players are required to play more than one senior game in a day due to player and team management, exception may be given to rule 4. This is to be granted by the match committee on a week to week basis, and may require adjustment to the player’s usual workload across all games played.
7. To ensure that junior players are successfully transitioned into senior softball, selection priority may be given to junior players where it is in the best interests of their development and retention.
8. Except in exceptional circumstances senior players will spend no more than a half-game on the bench in any normal round fixture.
9. All senior players will receive an even amount of game-time across the season. Each Team Coach must ensure that individual half-game and games-played records are kept.
10. Player game-time rotations DO NOT apply in finals games.
