Our newest and probably the most surprised recipient ever, of an Eastern Raiders Life Membership is Anna Chmiel.
Chris Trengove, an Eastern Raiders Life Member, past president and once coach to Anna, presented her with a gong at the AGM after highlighting some of Anna’s attributes and achievements. Here are just a few.
Anna has played consistently for Eastern Raiders over a period of we think at least 12 to maybe 15 years.
Throughout that time she has been involved in every aspect of the club – played, coached, umpired (not sure if she has ever scored, but probably) and contributed off the diamond – canteen duty, fundraisers, sausage sizzles, trivia nights, team bus driver – everything! In short she is the epitome of a great club member.
As a player, Anna has given her all to Eastern Raiders. From a coaching perspective Anna is the player you want to have in your team. She does it all! She has been known to simultaneously pitch and catch in the same game (obviously not to herself!). She will play any position on the diamond. She is a committed team member and will bunt when asked and if not bunting, she will virtually always put the ball in play. She puts her body on the line every time, regardless of how it’s feeling. Anna is always available to play, unless of course she is fighting bushfires for her community. She is committed to playing every week and will play two games if teams are short. Anna even turned up to play after cracking her kneecap the week before. She is very competitive and will never back down. A fantastic playing member of our club, who deserves to be recognised.
Anna’s mum Camille also deserves accolades, she has been supporting Anna and her teams every Saturday for all the years Anna’s been playing. A fabulous effort through rain, hail and shine.
Eastern Raiders congratulates you Anna! A well deserved member of our Life Members Club.
