- About UsWant to know more about Eastern Raiders?… If you want to play softball at any level come and join us. We aim to provide the enjoyment of softball to everyone who wants to play. The Eastern Raiders Softball Club plays in the Waverley Softball Association at Jells Park, Wheelers Hill in Melbourne (Melway 71-K6). We are also affiliated with both the Victorian Softball Association and Softball Australia. The Eastern Raiders Softball Club was formed in 1990 following the amalgamation of Mount Waverley Softball Club and Blackburn North Softball Club. Eastern Raiders welcomes players of all ages and capabilities to join us. We field teams in all age groups from junior T-ball through to senior A-grade. Opportunities exist for girls of all ages to advance through various grades of competition and to participate in teams for the Waverley Association, State and National Championships and even Masters! (over 35). We also cater for boys, who can play in our T-ball and Primary B (up to Grade 5) competition, and follow on into our Under 14 and Under 17 teams. We have a very enthusiastic and competitive Masters scene at Raiders. Ladies over 35 years of age have competed in Masters tournaments around Australia over the last four seasons. All standards are welcome. We encourage all family members to join in, and our main focus is fun and participation. We like to see our players and parents become involved in coaching, umpiring, scoring and any other facet of the club. Raiders have repeatedly enjoyed success on the field each season. In the last five seasons we have averaged two or more premierships per season played. In those five years, we have won at least one premiership in every grade except one. Last season – which ended in March 2011, we had three teams competing for premierships on grand final day. Two of these teams won gold. Our very competitive Division 1 girls achieved back to back premierships and our very young A reserve girls were victorious also. Our A grade girls were runners-up in a rain delayed battle over two days. The Waverley summer softball season is played on Saturdays and runs from October through to the end of March. There are breaks for long weekends, Christmas and school holidays. Go on – take the plunge, get involved in a great team sport, you will not regret it. Further information and contact details are available on the administration page.
